9/25/12

Hey hey so sorry I'm really bad at answering questions for two reasons, one I forget haha and two I've got so much on my mind it makes it easier to forget.... so I'll try my best. I'm glad meg had a good time at HC it was a lot of fun i remember ya look great Megan!! nice shoe tan too hahahaha but believe me being here I've got a dress collar tan line and my legs which used to be the most tan are now white...haha. is that Jenna hitting????? haha she's got the height but needs to get the right positioning for such hits haha her legs are like wrapped in the net with here arms in the back row haha. I'm glad to see y'all are doin good. sorry but there's really no time to take many pictures are of so far.( ill explain later) but the really good news for you is that the Mission secretary takes a zillion pictures and gives us CDs of us before we leave in 2.you didn't mention Kk? hows she doin? Gosh Logan's almost home.... that's crazy! but I bet the wards excited. I'm glad to see y'all are doing good though and hopefully enjoying life without getting to stressed. I'm definitely not happy with pops now....... soooo many members have showed me their gun collections and i just die a little inside haha.

So this week.....

to sum up, the days were extremely long and the week went by fast as lightning. I'm just waiting for the days to pick up speed because I'm running out of steam midweek and close to dragging myself to Sunday haha. But its good I'm not complaining. Got my first baptism Sunday the23rd, Name was Giovaunni De La Hos. hes 9 and his mom was baptized about 2 months ago. the spirit that night was unbelievable and I just kept smiling and thinking to myself this is what missionary work is. this is the fruits of my labors and It is the happiest I've been for myself and more so for Gio. Its kinda weird how Proud and how much I care about him and the entire ward and investigators. but at the same time it just feels right. I love everyone I've been in contact with. Even when street contacting and people flat out insult me I don't take it personal, Its nothing against me and they will have to answer for it at the judgement seat. we started teaching a girl named Sierra, all her friends are LDS and its a shocker she's not. She's come to church for a yearish and already wants to be baptized but her parents wont let her til she's 18 which is October so that'll be good. Isebell who is this sweet ol lady is like the perfect Mormon but wont be baptized because she already was in the catholic faith and her favorite and dearest Uncle did it. so she is adamant she wont be baptized but believes everything about our faith.....well see about that baptism... haha. we have a few progressing investigators (PI) that basically fell off the face of the Earth, one has been taking Jehovah Witness lessons and the other just won't quit smoking. Ah so this recent convert (RC) has a daughter that will hopefully be getting baptized on the 20th looks, sounds, and reminds me of Kayla, its absolutely crazy!! when I first saw her i was like "whoa". I'm slowing coming along in the lessons. my trainer is something else though.... He's very ummm interesting. he wont really let me do anything and when I do he questions and redoes it..... so that's not an insult right? well my cursed personality does not do well with a companion that doesn't trust me.... with anything haha but the best part is he started making fun of my way of teaching a lesson during the lesson.... to the mother...... and then Gio totally lost focus and for the first time on my mission I thought about walking out the door. I was so erked and because of that I lost the spirit and its been hard to get it back because of the contention I pray and pray to relieve it. plus just to add fuel to the fire. we had a mission wide service project to I got to spend some time with all my guys from the MTC who all have fantastic companions as well as the new Spanish elder in Hollister and his trainer. and of course I'm the lucky one. they talk all about the hard work there doing but also the fun and memories they create. my companions got the work part down and I commend him on that but I crack a little joke or laugh at another elders joke or just enjoy the bike ride or car ride and he'll have none of it.... So I guess that stick that is under pressure will stay under pressure all this transfer and the next before it can be relieved from the stress. I'm trying to love him. I really am and I know I can learn infinite amounts of points and skills from him but gosh its difficult especially when he throws me under the bus like that.... but sorry bad rant I need to just grow up and love. I'm trying, trust me and its getting better but not where it should be. hopefully if it continues at least when I go to the temple next week it should help put me at peace. on the good side I still love Hollister! wish I had a car all week but halfs not to bad. found this CD that is Gospel related music to Joseph Smith and Missionary work by the Nashville Tribute and holy cow I love em both!! closest I can get to country music out hear and one song just really digs deep in me and I love it so much. music is such a spiritual and stress relieving thing. I enjoy it so much. So i have come to appreciate mothers cooking.... haha I realized I cant cook much and running on a small budget I cant really buy more than oatmeal and milk with some bread and roast beef haha. speaking of food there's a lot of interesting foods here and my body doesn't seem to want to adjust. so Tums are still my best friends. I love my district there all a great group of missionaries very fun loving and happy, Unlike my companion. but yeah. Mission President cam to the Baptism last Sunday and I don't remember if I told you or not but I'm speaking with the Bishop on the 14th about faith in sacrament meeting so that'll be exciting. I love the ward so much! there all wonderful loving and friendly people. Elders Quorum is the usual stereotype of course haha. but I love the ward. and I really really love all the RC and PI they are so close to my heart as well as you guys. I miss you all very very much and hope the best for each of you. Remember how much God blesses each of us everyday. remember coincidence is God's way of staying anonymous but its so true.

P.S. crashed my bike again...

P.s.s. haven't sent back anything there's no time with my companion to take care of any needs I really have. but the pants will last for a bit longer hopefully. I become a good sewer and duck taper haha. hopefully I answered all your Questions

Love you all!

9/17/12

hello hello from can you guess it????????????? give ya some hints, its got 30k people, mostly illegals, lots of farms and small stores, poorest place in the mission, and its crazy hot. any ideas? ok here's another hint, its a store in the mall. Hollister, CA. this place is crazy!! but i absolutely love it! all the members and recent converts are the nicest of people and a lot are quite funny too. I have a bike half the week and a car the other. there's 4 elders and 2 sisters down here for the whole town! theres 2 wards and a small Spanish branch. plus i already have to talk next month....... oh well. there are so many teaching opportunities so my gospel knowledge is coming fast and hopefully good. it truly is a wonderful place here. and boy oh boy do i get fed good here. seems everywhere i go theres people eating and giving us food. I've got to try cactus which is pretty good and some spinach smoothie things that turned out ok. idk what i ate but the past 2 days I've had horrible cramps.... hahaha but other than that I'm 100% healthy and ready to go. theres sadly no In- N- Out here which is killer but at least theres a taco bell just past our apartment, our apartment too is the nicest in the whole mission which is funny sense its out here in poor Hollister. but I love it everything is so lovable out here! even the people that yell and scream at ya. got 3 baptisms coming up this next month so i definitely got thrown in the heat of everything! its all been gas and go for me and so today i took a good 2hr nap which recharged the batteries tremendously. we have quite a few investigators so ill definitely stay busy. we don't track here which is nice. Elder Perry came to us like 6 months ago and said if we street contact 175 a week and teach 20 lessons a week we will see more success and more baptisms so that's what were doing!! the ward takes care of us so well. there all fantastic and easy to talk to and love. i think I've already bike the whole town besides the sisters ward which is tiny lol so all in all I'm going all out. hopefully that will make things go by a little quicker than this past week. my companion is fantastic Elder Clarke from Canada, hes so spiritual and very very planned out. he is always jumping for the next thing. so I've learned to just go with the flow but all in all were kickin it here! already taught a dozen lessons and a few of which were the first for the investigator so I've got a few start to finish investigators going now instead of catchup from others that i know nothing about! already broke a bike and gone supermaning off the bike...... my comp. stopped and i nailed him because i was trying to beat the gate to our apt. and my bike stopped but i kept going haha didn't get hurt just blackened my shirt but it came out. this place is awesome. honestly i feel I'm in the best place in the mission already. I get to go to the Oakland temple before GC each 6b months so that's good! i cant wait its giant!! theres a wonderful work going on here i tell ya and here in Hollister is going at like 90miles an hour so i gotta try to keep up!!

Email is way easier now. I've got a much time as i need. hope y'all are doing amazing know that i miss you and love you sooo much! keep me in the loop and tell everyone hi for me,

Week Two

Hey fam! first off sorry mom I though your email was #2. anyway how are yall doin? having fun back in school girls?? what is going on in the house?? anything cool? hows Duke?

this week has been up and down personally. last week I just kept getting shut down with investigators and it just literally sucked...... but ya know oh well its there own eternal salvation there throwing away... jk. but this past week has been my lowest of lows with no sucess with investigators and also just stressing out because i dont feel like i know the doctrine or PMG or anything..... plus i feel i never seem to have the spirit. the 16 hr days didnt help much either haha. anyway at this low i was pretty frustrated at myself and honestly I hated myself which is not the best thing to do let me tell ya. but it was at this moment that i found my "Enos knees" and prayed and prayed. Plus a Fast as well. and here's the crazy thing..... Monday teaching a lady named linda who we have not had any success with, idk if she's even heard the lessons weve tried to teach and with her I honestly thought seriously about packing my bags because of her, but we finally clicked with that stubborn old lady!! it was amazing I knew i was led by the spirit and i knew that my shadow was 2 sizes bigger in that room because God was right there helping us out and coverin our back. it was fantastic if you allow the Lord to send his angels he will send them in abunddance. that lesson was the best and most spiritually powerful I have ever taught but ya know it really wasnt even me. the only thing i did was humble myself as much as possible to allow myself to become a vessel of the spirit for the lord. i am so blessed to know that I for once in my life was humble and i really am trying so hard at continueing that so I may be able to allow the spirit to enter in me and go right into the investigator. i love it here. the amount of love and spirit in this place is fantastic!! saw Elder Klemm the other day too. he's learnin Italian. So today is Pday and its early morning but were doing our wash anyway. this way we'll all have clean clothes for the Temple. I am so excited!!!! even though this is the last time itsll be ok. speaking of last time, my flight is at 0830ish so be expecting a call from 7ish to8ish depend how security goes haha. hopefully my bags are under 50LBs cause then itll be an extra 100 bucks.... but yeah Im excited. oh by the way those pants we bought from Mac. cheapos!! there are strings all over the place and buttons and seams are poping everyday. Luckily Ive got a sewer in my room lol so thats fixed most. he decided to help when i sewed on a button and used the wrong color thread, he though it would be better if he did it. I dont see why those pants sorta look green! haha. Well on to another week with pants falling apart and lots of fun times ahead!! tell everyone I miss em.

Heres some pictures but i can only send a few at a time so youll get like 4 emails.

Love you all so much!!
